Linux on Freescale i.MX

Freescale i.MX35

Pengutronix has ported Linux to the i.MX processor family - starting with the MX1/MXL in 2005. Since 2008, MX27, MX31, MX35 and MX25 have also been ported into the official mainline kernel. Today the port is under active development, both by the Pengutronix kernel team and the community. The i.MX port is maintained by Pengutronix kernel developer Sascha Hauer.

The official kernel has a lot of advantages for i.MX users:

  • Long Term Maintenance
  • All new kernels can be used directly
